Description
Snap-On Safety Anchor for Snap-Lock Standing Seam Roof Panels
The Snap-On Safety Anchor (SOS) is a purpose-built fall protection anchor designed exclusively for snap-lock standing seam metal roofing systems. Unlike most traditional anchors developed for most mechanical seam, the SOS engages the snap-lock profile without crushing or permanently deforming the panel.
Engineered Specifically for Snap-Lock Seam Profiles
Snap-lock panels contain an internal seam cavity that many conventional anchors are not designed to accommodate. Improper anchoring methods can damage the seam and compromise long-term roof performance.
The SOS anchor was developed to work with the snap-lock geometry rather than against it.
Design Features
- Contoured female extrusion designed for snap-lock profiles
- Male extrusion with integrated hook that seats into the snap-lock groove
- No set screws
- No seam crushing
- 304 stainless steel D-ring for PFAS attachment
The anchor consists of two 12-inch 6061-T6 aluminum extrusions joined by a stainless steel hinge pin and secured with Grade 8 hardware
OSHA Compliance and Usage Specifications
When properly installed and when the supporting structure is evaluated by a Qualified Person, the Snap-On Safety Anchor may be used as part of a personal fall arrest or restraint system.
Key Specifications
- Compatible with 22 and 24 gauge steel standing seam panels
- Maximum worker weight (including tools): 310 lbs
- One worker per anchor
- Fall arrest roof pitch up to 12/12
- Restraint roof pitch up to 4/12
Anchor fasteners must be torqued to 50 ft-lbs during installation
A compatible personal fall arrest system (PFAS), including a full-body harness and energy-absorbing connector, is required.
Installation Overview
Proper installation is required for compliance and performance.
- Verify seam compatibility prior to installation
- Ensure panel and structure are structurally sound
- Install at least 6 feet from roof edge where feasible
- Torque anchor nuts to 50 ft-lbs
Full installation procedures are detailed in the official Metal Plus Operation & Instruction Manual
Optional System Expansion – Swivel Bar Compatibility
The SOS Anchor may be connected using the Metal Plus Swivel Bar to link two identical SOS anchors across adjacent seams.
When installed, all fall protection connectors must attach to the Swivel Bar’s central 360-degree anchorage eye
Use with mixed anchor models or non-Metal Plus components is prohibited.
Inspection and Maintenance Requirements
- Inspect prior to each use
- Formal inspection at least every three (3) months by a Competent Person
- Remove from service immediately if subjected to fall forces
You must refer to the instruction manual for accuracy.
